Over the past few years we have had the opportunity to work on several large scale entertainment related cover-mounted CD-ROMs.
Our first venture was to collaborate with
In-Chair Viewing to produce two stylish CD-ROMs for
GQ magazine.
Since then we have gone on to direct, edit, design & manage a variety of multimedia and video related projects for
Conde Nast (GQ Men of the Year awards),
Attic Futura (1st year anniversary CD-ROM for Shine magazine),
Emap Elan (New Woman magazine) and
Harrods .
Why publish a cover-mounted CD-ROM?
If you publish a magazine, a cover-mounted CD-ROM can significantly increase your monthly sales. In our experience, cover-mounts have sometimes increased the circulation of a magazine by up to 30%. In addition to the benefits this offers to a publishing company, cover-mounted CD-ROMs also provide a platform for advertisers to purchase 'video slots' in which they can place their TV commercial, video promo or advertisement - an opportunity which can provide the publisher with the additional benefit of co-branding opportunities and spin-off revenue streams. If a cover-mount is planned properly, and suitable sponsors, advertisers and contributors are in place, the CD-ROM can (and often does) make a significant difference to the circulation and readership of the magazine that carries it.
There are stylistic benefits too. A cover-mount can also offer the magazine an opportunity to more closely engage its readers, with documentary style videos and 'interactive editorial' (for example, the
Shine CD-ROM we produced for their 1st anniversary issue featured a 'behind-the-scenes' look at the magazine's production including a beauty shoot, street quiz, fashion feature and music videos!).
