There's an A-Z of therapies (from Ayurvedic medicine to yoga), tips on how to cope with stress at work and in relationships, and a brilliant resource section. So surfing the net can be stress-free, too.

Given that 74 per cent of UK employees consider stress to be their leading health concern, it seems we've all been waiting for a site like www.stressbusting.co.uk.

This endeavours to mop the collective national brow, helping us evaluate our Stress Quotient with a 30-question quiz and suggesting ways to reduce it. The A to Z of therapies includes obvious candidates such as yoga, as well as the seriously wacky 'smudging', a ceremony rooted in Native American culture, in which you use smoke from burning herbs to cleanse your space. You'll discover that celebrities like Kate Winslet get anxious, too (she cures it with Mexican yam, apparently) and read all about Craig Mardus, an American guru who believes that a wild sexual fantasy about Brad Pitt or Cameron Diaz is the ideal cure. The office will never be the same again.

Tearing your hair out at work? Is your home becoming a battlefield? Help is at hand from a new web site aimed at bringing a bit of calm into your life. Stressbusting is an innovative site set up by the Scottish Tourist Board - the idea being that a holiday north of the border will soothe you. But the site is still worth a look even if you're not planning a trip to the Highlands.

When you log on, head for the stress test - an interactive check on how near you are to boiling point. For a more in depth look a the subject, see the articles on stress signs and symptoms by media medic Dr Roger Henderson or read all the latest theories surrounding the topic in the news section. The A-Z of stress therapies shows how you can work out your problems using everything from aromatherapy to yoga and includes links for more information on the web. And if these techniques don't work, click on to the Ways of Coping section, which is packed with tips on keeping sane. To complete the site there's a user forum, an online agony aunt and excellent net links.

Good points: Clear and easy to use design, with a good range of material.
Bad points: Could be more interactive.
Verdict: Something for everyone here if you look hard enough. 9/10

Serve chilled

Summer's drawing to a close and you're keen to keep that lovin', relaxing feeling you managed to nurture over the holidays, right? Then stressbusting.co.uk's new microsite at www.stressbusting.co.uk/relaxation/ is for you. Claims by its makers that it's 'the nearest thing there is to an on-line flotation tank' and 'a state-of-the-art chill-out zone' are a tad grandiose, but the features here are so laid back that they could definitely help destress you at your desk if going out for a walk / fag / few deep breaths isn't an option.

Choose from more than 50 relaxing interactive movies and kaleidoscopic animations in five different channels (including this one, 'Mitosis', by Pablo Margaria), plus four radio channels, an ambient jukebox and a bunch of cool screensavers, though Mac users will have to forego the latter. They can always console themselves by watching the iBook's own built-in relaxation function; that 'sleep' button glowing dimly on and off, designed to emulate the rhythm of our breathing patterns while asleep, does it for me every time.
